Approach for Planning and Implementing Projects and Events

  • Yakima Indivisible will fully engage in most or all National Days of Action designated by the National Indivisible Group. The Mobilization Team is tasked with developing and implementing the plans for these Days of Action and for determining additional local days of action.
    • For all other Events and Projects, an Advisory Committee will be created and will include co-facilitators of working groups representing 6 Issue Categories:
      • Protecting People
      • Preserving Civic Institutions
      • Defending the Rule of Law
      • Safeguarding the Safety Net
      • Maximizing Voting Rights
      • Bridging the Divide
    • The Advisory Committee will meet with the Steering Committee on the first Tuesday of each month to determine which Event/Projects Y-I will develop and implement.
    • In the initial First Tuesday the combined team will co-develop processes for: Member input, facilitation of the working groups, and decision making.
  • Suggestions for Events/Projects may emerge within the First Tuesday meetings OR from ideas coming from Working Groups. In either case, no detailed planning takes place until a decision is made to move forward with a particular Event/Project
  • Sometimes an Event/Project is logically taken on by just one Working Group. At other times, an Event/Project might be thematic with related projects happening in several working groups.
  • The membership of Working Groups is not static. Once an Event/Project is announced, any member of Y-I is welcome to join the group or groups developing the event or project. Flexible membership in Working Groups is designed to allow members to follow their interests, to engage in more than one project at the same time, to take a break from projects for periods of time, and to be welcoming to new members of Yakima Indivisible.
  • In general, National Days of Action are designed to encourage participation of people passionate about issues in any of these categories.
