Location: Davis High School Auditorium
This is a powerful documentary that highlights effective evidence-based solutions such as Housing First and Permanent Supportive Housing and showcases examples and especially amazing results throughout the United States, in urban and rural, city and county settings, when whole jurisdictions come together to collaborate across all sectors of the community to end homelessness. Here is a link to the website for the film where you can learn more and view the trailer. Beyond The Bridge: A Solution To Homelessness.
Jennifer Schlenske, the director of Justice Housing, here in Yakima, has pulled together an amazing local steering committee to help show the film and host a panel discussion afterward along with a call to action around ending homelessness in our community. The committee includes: Commissioner Kyle Curtis; Rhonda Hauff, YNHS; Dave Hanson, Sunrise Outreach; Esther Magasis, Yakima County Homeless Services; Marty Miller, ORFH; Sharon Miracle, YVCF; Leslie and Spencer Hatton and myself. Our meetings with the filmmakers are very inspirational and we think we can fill the 1200 seat auditorium and use this opportunity to dramatically move our collaborative efforts to address homelessness in Yakima forward.
