Yakima Indivisible is supporting Y.I.R.N.’s Yakima May Day March and Rally.
Details:
- 3:30 pm: Meet at YVC (corner of 16th and Nob Hill) to begin a march to Miller Park. The march route is attached, and you are more than welcome to join the march at any point along the route. The map shows places where there is adequate parking and where additional safety/peacekeepers will be stationed to join the march as it passes by. We will need to stay on sidewalks all the way to Miller Park, so this will require cooperation to ensure safety.
- Bring your signs AND Y-I will also have signs available at YVC
Wear shirts and hats to represent your union, school district, or other organization - 3:45 pm: Introductory remarks from local organizations and unions.
- 4:00 pm: March to Miller Park begins. (PLEASE stay on sidewalks at all times)
- 5:00 pm (approximately): The May Day rally featuring speakers, music, and more begins in Miller Park as soon as marchers arrive from YVC.
This is a family-friendly event, so please keep that in mind as you select or make your signs
Peacekeepers (safety members) are needed for the march. Those who sign up will receive additional information including responsibilities, the time and place to meet, and where you will be needed during the march.
