Y-I Food and Clothing Drive Continues

Y-I Food and Clothing Drive

In support of local veterans in the month of November, Yakima Indivisible will be collecting donations of nonperishable food items for the Yakima County Veterans Program Food Pantry.  Any overflow items will be donated to OIC of Yakima’s Veteran Support Offices and/or the Yakima Rotary Food Bank depending upon need.

Foods specific for homeless/low income veterans are listed below.   Pop top cans are preferred.  However, that is not always an option, so a donation of a can opener is always welcome as well.

For Homeless Vets For Low Income Vets
Hearty soups Pasta/Rice
Chili Pasta Sauces/Gravy – jars
Hormel ready to eat meals – shelf stable Canned fruit & vegetables
Granola Bars Oatmeal/Cereal
Canned meats Canned meats
Individual fruit/pudding cups Individual fruit/pudding cups
Cup O’ Noodles Shelf stable milk

We are also asking for new or gently used, laundered coats, winter wear, blankets, sleeping bags, pillows, tarps and hand warmers.   Items that might be more appropriate for children will be donated to the Rotary.

There will be two opportunities for dropping off donations.  The first will be at the General Meeting on Saturday, November 8th.  The second will be at the Veteran’s Day Parade on Tuesday, November 11th.  Location for drop-off will provided a day or two before the Parade.

Thank you all for your ongoing support of Yakima Indivisible and the Yakima Valley Community.
