Hundreds Attend Robert Reich Film at Capitol Theatre

The Last Class screening at Capitol Theatre

It took a village to put on a showing of Robert Reich’s newest film “The Last Class” at Yakima’s Capitol Theatre January 10, but we are thrilled by the turnout of more than 300 people! Robert Reich is a professor, author and former US Secretary of Labor under President Bill Clinton. The film, The Last Class, focuses on Reich as he teaches his final “Wealth and Poverty” class to 1,000 UC Berkeley students.

YI volunteers and youth from the Yakima chapter of Washington Youth Alliance met at noon to set up at the theater and begin popping corn. One hundred “gift tickets” were donated, so interested youth in Yakima could attend this event. We are especially grateful to our sponsors: Rural Americans United, Tamaki Law, Dianna Woods and Lanikai Swanhart for providing food, beverages and other assistance. Big thanks also to the folks at the Capitol Theatre for all their remarkable assistance, and to Angie Girard and the scores of other Yakima Indivisibles who organized this event.
